Speech-Language Evaluation & Assessment

A recent evaluation or assessment is needed before starting sessions in order to look at your child’s current communication levels and skills, as well as to plan for goals for therapy. The evaluation will take approximately 1.5 hours and may consist of relationship building activities, caregiver interview, observations, informal assessment measures, standardized assessments, and direct interaction with your child - each evaluation is tailored to the individual child and your individual speech & language concerns. Following the initial evaluation, you will be provided with a written report that includes goals and recommendations.

The evaluation fee is $300 due prior to or on the day of the assessment. In some instances, the evaluation fee may be waived if your child has a recent IEP or speech-language assessment report for another provider.

Speech-Language Therapy Sessions

Regularly scheduled sessions are peech and language therapy sessions are typically 45 minutes and will target goals that we develop together as a team based on your child’s individual needs. Therapy can take place in-home, through telehealth (for CA residents), or in a community setting. All therapy sessions will contain a caregiver coaching component to support the continued learning of things we work on in sessions to the rest of your child’s daily life. Group/sibling sessions are also available when applicable (please inquire if interested).

The fee for in-home speech-language therapy sessions or telepractice (virtual) sessions is $100 per 45-minute session. The fee for in-home sessions or telepractice (virtual) sessions scheduled for 60-minutes is $135. Although it is not possible for an SLP to know, in advance, how many speech-language sessions may be necessary or appropriate for a given person, typically sessions are scheduled for 1-2x/week. The fee for group/sibling sessions (when applicable) is $75 per 45-minute session per child.

Social Skills Development

Our social skills development sessions help your teen or young adult build the tools they need to thrive in everyday life. We work on social interaction skills with peers and/or community members in a naturalistic environment out in the community - such as at a grocery store, an ice cream shop, the zoo, the library, and more! We also focus on important areas like self-advocacy, making choices, staying organized, planning ahead, and other important life skills. These sessions are all about helping your child interact with others, gain confidence, become more independent, and learn how to navigate the world around them in a way that feels comfortable and empowering!

The fee for in-home or community-based social skills development session is $100 per 45-minute session. The fee for or community-based social skills development session scheduled for 60-minutes is $135.

AAC Programming

Does your child have an AAC device that they are not using as effectively as you think they could be? Just Once can help! We provide in-depth AAC programming to make big changes, including adding new icons or hiding icons, to your child’s current AAC vocabulary file to make it a perfect fit for them.

The fee for asynchronous AAC programming is $100 per 60-minutes of programming.

Parent/Caregiver Consultation

Working as a team is an integral part of speech therapy success! In addition to caregiver coaching that is already a part of therapy sessions, sometimes it may be beneficial to have more time for in depth discussions about your child (when your child is not present) about their needs and how to integrate strategies and supports into your life. Parent/caregiver consultations can be provided via phone calls or a telehealth platform and start at 30 minutes.

The fee for parent consultations/support sessions is $50 per 30-minute session. Please note: these sessions are on an as-needed basis and do not replace therapy sessions.

Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs)

If you are a a parent of a child with a disability and do not agree with the results of the schools district’s evaluation of your child’s communication skills, you have the right to obtain what is known as an Independent Educational Evaluation, or an IEE. This means that you may ask that a professional, competent evaluator who is not employed by the school system to conduct another evaluation of your child. It’s like getting a second opinion!

If you need more information about obtaining an IEE, please check out page 5 of the parent rights packet: http://www.nccse.org/files/families/procedural-safeguards/State-Procedural-Safeguards_rv2016.pdf.

*Please note that rates listed above are general rates and may vary based on travel radius, operating hours, and type of session. If you are a San Diego Regional Center client, please contact us for information regarding Early Start or Self-Determination Program Services.
